The Apple Nannies Story
Apple Nannies matches hardworking, dynamic Canadian families with equally hardworking and dedicated nannies through the Canadian Live-in Caregiver Program (LCP).
From its origins in Waterloo, Ontario (home of the BlackBerry® and the largest Oktoberfest celebration outside of Munich), Apple Nannies has helped nearly 300 fantastic families across Canada since opening our doors in December 2006. Wonderful Apple Nannies are bringing wealth to families in Vancouver, Victoria, Calgary, Edmonton, Fort McMurray, Saskatoon, Regina, Winnipeg, Windsor, London, Kitchener, Cambridge, Guelph, Toronto, Hamilton, Ottawa, Montreal, St. John’s, Fredericton and Halifax.
Our beginnings are humble but likely ring familiar to many Canadian women and families. Apple Nannies all started with three people: Andrea, Faith and Natalie. Perhaps like you, Andrea was attempting to do the great juggling act – trying to balance work, kids, her relationship with her husband, getting the house in order and serving up healthy meals (and what about friends, going to yoga or time to herself? Forget it). Balls were starting to drop and Andrea’s stress level was at an all-time high.
While the decision to hire a live-in nanny was a tough one for her (guilt of not being able to do it all herself, worry over finding the right person, concerns of how to deal with a new family member), Andrea couldn’t believe the difference in her and her family’s life when Faith – an amazing nanny new to Canada – came to the rescue. For the first time in a long time, Andrea had some breathing room – and she soon discovered that this helped her to become a better colleague at work, a better friend, a better wife and a better mother.
She was so impressed with the opportunities afforded by a live-in nanny that Andrea connected with Natalie and together they went on to co-found a company to help other people like them – and Apple Nannies was born!
